MOON MISSION: The Artemis II mission marked humanity’s first return to the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972. NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen also set the record for the furthest distance that humans have travelled from Earth: 252 756 miles, or more than 406771 km. This photo taken on April 6 shows a fully illuminated view of the Moon. The near side (identifiable by the dark splotches) is visible on the right of the photo. The left portion of the image shows the far side, the hemisphere not visible from Earth because the Moon rotates on its axis at the same rate that it orbits around the Earth. Photograph: NASA
