Name of the Project
Eva copper mine project renewable hybrid power facility.

Location
North-west Queensland, Australia.

Project Owner/s
Power solutions provider Aggreko.

Aggreko finalised a landmark power purchase agreement (PPA) with international miner Harmony Gold Mining Company in April 2026.

The PPA, with a minimum term of 15 years, will result in Aggreko's building, owning and operating the renewable hybrid power facility to support the construction and operation of Harmony’s Eva copper mine.

Project Description
The project includes the development of a renewable hybrid power facility to support the construction and operation of Harmony Gold Mining Company’s Eva copper mine project. Aggreko has said the facility will be the largest off-grid renewable hybrid power facility in Australia.

The facility will incorporate a 104 MVA thermal power facility, with flexibility to scale up, a 118 MWp solar farm and a 250 MWh battery energy storage system. This is expected to allow for a high renewable contribution, reduced fuel consumption and improved emissions performance across the mine’s life cycle.

Aggreko and Harmony are also collaborating on options to increase renewable-energy penetration over time, including potential wind integration and a future connection to transmission infrastructure, to ensure that the power solution remains flexible and evolves with the project’s long-term requirements.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create regional employment opportunities and support local contracting, supply and service partners in Cloncurry and Mount Isa.

Capital Expenditure
Not disclosed.

Planned Start/End Date
Not disclosed.
