Goldwind, a reliable global strategic partner in clean energy, today officially opened its South Africa Solution Factory in Cape Town. This strategic investment underscores Goldwind's long-term commitment to the African market and its "In Africa, For Africa" localization strategy.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ms. Samantha Graham-Maré, Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy of South Africa; Ms. Sunette Smith, Chairperson of the South African Wind Energy Association; Mr. Niveshen Govender, CEO of SAWEA; and Mr. Wang Hai, Deputy General Manager of Goldwind Group and General Manager of Goldwind International. The event brought together nearly 100 guests, including government officials, IPPs, and financial partners.

Located in the Montague Garden industrial park, the 2,500-square-meter facility is Goldwind's sixth overseas solution factory, joining a global network that supports wind power development across the US, Australia, Brazil, Pakistan, and Vietnam.

A Centralized Hub for Full Lifecycle Support

  • The South Africa Solution Factory integrates five core functions into a single, streamlined operation:
  • Remote Operations Center (ROC): For real-time monitoring and data-driven performance optimization.
  • Testing and Maintenance Center: Ensuring technical excellence and rapid response.
  • Technical Support Center: Providing expert, on-the-ground engineering support.
  • Regional Warehousing Center: Drastically reducing spare parts lead times and logistics costs.
  • GWO Training Center: Delivering internationally recognized safety and technical training to develop local talent.

By consolidating these capabilities, Goldwind will significantly enhance project execution and operational efficiency for its clients across South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, ensuring greater turbine availability and long-term reliability.

Driving Innovation with Drone Technology

Reinforcing its commitment to technological leadership, Goldwind signed long-term Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with drone service providers Clobots and Forestry Drone at the event. This partnership will integrate advanced drone technology into wind farm inspections, environmental monitoring, and operations management. This initiative is set to boost on-site safety, improve inspection efficiency, and strengthen Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance across Goldwind's projects.

Industry and Government Leaders Welcome Investment

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Samantha Graham-Maré said: " The Goldwind Solution Factory is more than just an operational asset; it lays the foundation for shared growth by fostering local skills, driving localization, and creating jobs. It’s an amazing company with such an exciting initiative"

Mr. Wang Hai, Deputy General Manager of Goldwind Group, commented: "The launch of our South Africa Solution Factory is a tangible demonstration of our 'In Africa, For Africa' commitment. It is designed to put our clients first by providing faster, smarter, and more reliable services. We are grateful for the strong support from our partners, and we will keep working to create jobs, support local business, and build strong projects in Africa. By working together with the government and our partners, we can do even more.”
