ASX-listed Adisyn has been granted worldwide exclusive rights to commercialise graphene-based radar signature reduction technology, marking a transition from research to a structured commercial development phase for the technology.

The rights were granted through Adisyn’s subsidiary, 2D Generation, which in turn holds ownership of 2D Radar Absorbers.

2D Radar Absorbers entered into a binding licence and research agreement with the technology transfer company of Tel Aviv University called Ramot.

The agreement comes at a time of increasing global focus on radar signature management, driven by the rapid expansion of unmanned arial vehicle (UAV) deployment, loitering munitions and the growing sophistication of detection systems in the defence and aerospace sectors.

Importantly, the new agreement replaces a previous option arrangement between the parties, and establishes long-term access to current intellectual property (IP) of Ramot and its future development, defined economic terms and a clear pathway to commercialisation.

Under the agreement Adisyn holds exclusive commercial rights across the defined field for Ramot’s IP.

Tel Aviv University is globally recognised for its leadership in advanced materials and applied physics, with Ramot having commercialised numerous breakthrough technologies. This now provides Adisyn with access to world-class research capability and commercialisation expertise.

Adisyn will now focus on improving radar absorption performance, manufacturability and scalability of graphene-based radar signature reduction technology towards commercial deployment and real-world validation.

The company expects the cost of the 12-month research programme to be less than A$100 000.

Subject to the results of the programme, Adisyn intends to establish a production facility jointly with a large industrial manufacturer, to supply UAV manufacturers, while strengthening strategic partnerships with UAV manufacturers and defence primes.

In turn, for the use of its IP, Ramot will receive a 4% royalty on net sales and a 19% equity interest in 2D Radar Absorbers.

Adisyn MD Arye Kohavi comments that the global market for radar-absorbing and stealth materials is expanding rapidly, driven by increasing UAV deployment, and loitering munitions and defence modernisation programmes, representing a multibillion-dollar opportunity across aerospace and defence applications.

“The radar initiative complements Adisyn’s core semiconductor graphene programme and highlights the broader commercial potential of its graphene technology platform,” he says.
