McArthur River Mine

McArthur River Mine is a uranium mining operation located in northern Saskatchewan, Canada, operated by Cameco. The mine is situated in the Athabasca Basin, one of the world's richest uranium-bearing regions, and has been a major producer of uranium ore since its development in the 1990s. The operation extracts high-grade uranium ore from underground deposits and is known for its significant ore reserves and production capacity. McArthur River Mine is subject to flooding risks due to its location in a water-rich environment, which has periodically affected operations and required management strategies to maintain production continuity. The mine's output is processed at nearby milling facilities, including the Key Lake Mill, to produce uranium concentrate for sale to nuclear utilities worldwide. The facility represents a critical component of Canada's uranium mining sector and contributes substantially to global uranium supply.
