Sandvik Rock Processing optimises screening performance across Africa
Sandvik Rock Processing BLM Screening Solutions – sales area Africa Frengelina Mabotja spoke to Engineering News & Mining Weekly during the Electra Mining Africa event, held in Johannesburg from 7 to 11 September 2026. Camerawork: Shadwyn Dickinson. Editing: Darlene Creamer.
As African mining and aggregates operations face increasing pressure to improve productivity while controlling operating costs, process optimisation is becoming an increasingly important focus. Sandvik Rock Processing is responding by expanding its screening solutions and strengthening its ability to support customers across the continent.
Effective screening plays a critical role in overall plant performance, with well-matched screens, crushers and process parameters helping to improve throughput, product quality and efficiency. Sandvik’s screening portfolio is supported by digital technologies such as DeckMapp™ and WearApp™, which provide data to help customers make more informed maintenance and optimisation decisions.
Local presence is another key part of the company’s strategy. Sandvik has expanded its technical capabilities and in-country stock of spares and components across Africa, helping to reduce lead times and improve customer support. Its South African facility is also capable of producing the company’s full range of screening products.
Looking ahead, Sandvik sees significant opportunities to help African mining and aggregates operations unlock greater value from existing processing plants through smarter screening, local expertise, digital solutions and lifecycle optimisation.
