Air Products South Africa highlighted the company’s quality food-grade gas products and technical expertise at Propak Cape 2026 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 27 – 29 October 2026. The focus of the stand was to illustrate the application of the Freshline™ range for modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) to extend the shelf life of products, the carbonation of beverages and liquid nitrogen (LIN) dispensing to build internal pressure in lightweight PET bottles and cans.

The event provided a valuable platform for the sales team to interact with current and potential customers as well as individuals involved in the packaging industry. According to Specialty Gas Sales Manager, Nelisiwe Dlamini, it is important to be present at these industry events and showcase the application of the products. “It is good for our customers to see that we are amongst the leaders in the industry and staying abreast of technology and trends in the market. It also provides us with an opportunity to highlight the different applications of our products and assure customers that we can support them with several different applications.”

Dlamini also emphasized that the Freshline™ range is FSSC22000 food safety management certified, which demonstrates the company’s commitment to the safe production, handling, storage and delivery of gases used for food processing and packaging purposes.

According to Dlamini, being present at these events and interacting with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) is invaluable. Not only is it good for customers to see that the manufacturer and gas supplier work closely together to provide them with the best solution, but it is also an opportunity to be updated on new developments in the equipment manufacturing space. “As Air Products’ food-grade gases are used for equipment manufactured by the OEMs, we need to work closely with them to stay abreast of changes and to enable us to provide the most effective solutions to our joint customers. Changes to equipment often impact the type and quantity of gas used. We pride ourselves on the close working relationship we have with customers and OEMs, and we often collaborate with them to conduct trials as this is a way to ensure we understand the unique requirements and provide tailor-made solutions.”

According to Dlamini, Air Products’ focus is to strengthen customer relationships and expand its presence in the food and beverage sector. “I believe our solutions can deliver meaningful value to customers if we truly understand their needs and if they perceive us to be a trusted partner in improving efficiency, preserving quality and reducing waste”. She concluded that the Air Products Accredited Distributor network is an extension of the Air Products brand and services and is able to assist customers and OEMs within the broader African market.
