Light lifting equipment – such as lifting solutions supplier Konecranes’ KBK steel workstation light lifting system – plays an important role in the automotive sector, particularly at workstations where components and vehicles require precise movement and positioning, or where it is otherwise inefficient to move them manually.

The KBK workstation lifting system can reliably and safely meet the stringent requirements of the automotive sector, and satisfies the demanding elements for clean workplaces and production lines.

It offers a lifting capacity of up to 2 000 kg and has multiple standard options for different needs, thereby helping customers to improve their productivity and efficiency while benefitting from enhanced operator safety.

“Our Konecranes KBK steel and aluminium light lifting workstations offer faster installation and removal of components, thereby speeding up assembly line operations, which assists in reducing production downtime.

“The Konecranes KBK aluminium system is about 50% lighter than steel, which helps to reduce rolling resistance, making manual operation almost effortless. The Konecranes KBK steel profiles are made of cold rolled steel with a smooth surface finish for easy bridge trolley travel, as well as dust and dirt protection,” says Konecranes South Africa sales manager Ian Grobler.

Both the KBK steel and aluminium systems are available as ceiling mounted or freestanding, and in single, double girder or monorail options.

Grobler notes that, with fewer operational distractions, the operator is able to focus more intently on load control, adding that a variety of lifting devices are available to create a more operator-friendly and efficient workstation. This ensures that the operator experiences less instances of discomfort, including back strain and other musculoskeletal injuries.

These lifting devices include the Konecranes C-Series hoist for everyday processes; the Konecranes belt hoist for electronic, pharmaceutical and food industry applications; and manual hoist products for heavy-duty operations – all of which are compatible with the KBK workstation.

The Konecranes KBK workstation can be attached to ceiling supports – such as concrete pillars or steel beams near a wall, or can be assembled around a free-standing wall; while KBK trolleys and bridges help improve the working area as a result of their compact design. The double-girder trolley of this solution lies between the girder for flexible headroom under the crane.
