Internal succession sees long-serving CFO take the helm as Digby Wells Environmental continues to strengthen its position globally LONDON, 18 March 2026 - We would like to inform you of an upcoming leadership transition
We would like to inform you of an upcoming leadership transition at Digby Wells Environmental.
Following an extensive internal succession process, Richard McDonald, currently Chief Financial Officer, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the company, effective 1 June 2026.
Richard is a strategic, purpose-driven executive leader with more than 20 years’ experience delivering growth, transformation and operational excellence across Africa, with strong depth in finance, governance, international expansion and M&A.
He has served as Chief Financial Officer at Digby Wells Environmental since April 2019, partnering closely with the CEO and Board through a period of major geographic expansion, including doubling headcount and increasing shareholder returns. The Board is confident that Richard’s deep understanding of the business, strong leadership capabilities and commitment to our values will ensure continuity and position the company well for its next phase.
After many years of dedicated service as Chief Executive Officer, Graham Trusler will be stepping down from the CEO role at the end of May 2026. Graham will continue to support the business in a part-time technical advisory capacity. In addition, Graham will remain actively involved as a non-executive director on the Board, ensuring continuity of institutional knowledge and strategic guidance.
The Board would like to express its sincere appreciation to Graham for his leadership, commitment and significant contribution to the development of the company. We are pleased that the business will continue to benefit from his experience and expertise going forward.
This transition reflects the company’s ongoing focus on strong governance, succession planning and long-term sustainability. Importantly, there will be no change to our commitment to our staff, clients and partners.
