The demonstration plant completion deadline date was extended to June 30, 2026; however, Giyani does not intend to restart the operation of the plant.
Latest Developments
Giyani has secured an additional R29.9-million from the Industrial Development Corporation for GMSA.
The funding has been used to extend operations at the demonstration plant, where additional HPMSM has been produced for evaluation by prospective offtakers. The extended run has also generated further technical data, including reagent consumption rates and operating insights pertaining to crystallisers and purge management. Giyani has said these results will be incorporated into the definitive feasibility study (DFS) for the separate K.Hill project, in Botswana, which is now expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026.
The demonstration plant is supporting the K.Hill project by providing product samples and operating data, rather than representing the main project. Giyani has indicated that, although the demonstration plant completion deadline has been extended to June 30, 2026, it does not intend to restart operations at the facility.
Under the amended IDC facility, the GMSA loan facility has been increased to R264.28-million, while the maximum combined IDC funding available to the company has been raised to R329.9-million.
Giyani has undertaken and has satisfied the provision of funding not less than R40-million to its subsidiaries to support completion of the K.Hill DFS. The additional demonstration plant work has delayed publication of the DFS slightly, but is expected to strengthen the study and support future offtake and project financing discussions for K.Hill, Giyani Metals Corp interim executive chairperson Nigel Robinson has said.
