There must be no delay in the detailed delivery of plans and metrics for each of the focal areas of the third phase of the Government-Business Partnership for Growth and Jobs. On progress and challenges alike, the partnership must report publicly regularly.

When it comes to the mining focal area in particular, the obstacles in the way of the R50-billion that is already there, waiting to be invested, must be removed speedily. At the same time, South Africa must sell itself to the rest of the world as the competitive investment destination that it is.

It is very pleasing that business is contributing leadership, expertise, implementation capacity and investment support alongside government, and the partnership must ensure that it delivers maximum economic growth at pace.
