Further resource expansion potential highlighted during Phase 2 drilling at Jubilee’s Molefe mine
Integrated copper producer and resource developer Jubilee Metals Group reports that there is further expansion potential at its Molefe openpit copper mining operation, in Zambia.
This was confirmed following the company’s Phase 2 drilling programme, which followed the initial infill drilling and trenching programme and was designed to test the eastern continuation of the mineralised structure and identify suitable locations for planned mine infrastructure such as the modular processing plants, roads and a waste rock dump area.
The drilling was undertaken by Aim-listed Galileo Resources under a cooperation and project development agreement announced on November 28, 2025.
The Phase 2 drilling programme comprised of 23 holes totalling about 1 851 m, with nine holes testing the continuity and grade of mineralisation and the remaining 14 targeting infrastructure locations to avoid sterilising potential future copper mining areas.
The drilling confirmed the continuity of mineralisation and extended its strike length by about 380 m eastwards, from 930 m to an estimated 1 310 m.
Jubilee has also received a mine development plan and schedule for consideration, supported by the condemnation drilling results.
The updated in-house mine schedule targets about one-million tonnes of oxide copper reef at grades of at least 1.30%, including about 240 000 t at 1.45% in the initial target Pits 2 and 3.
The schedule incorporates the additional drilling results and more than 400 samples collected from the operating mine and Jubilee says that an updated resource calculation incorporating the Phase 2 drilling results is targeted for completion by the end of 2026.
The improved understanding of the mineralised structure's orientation and potential continuation will also inform exploration targeting on additional properties Jubilee has secured in the surrounding area.
“The Phase 2 drilling results at Molefe are encouraging and confirm the further expansion potential of the Molefe mining operations, with multiple significant copper intersections, including both high-grade and wider mineralised intercepts. Of note is the shallow depth at which the copper intersections are recorded.
“Importantly, the current drilling programme and in-house resource estimate cover only about 400 ha, compared with more than 12 200 ha of exploration ground to the east alone.
“Our ambition is to identify and develop multiple Molefe-style mining operations across this expanded area, supporting Jubilee’s transition into a resource-backed mining company underpinned by its established processing capability,” Jubilee CEO Leon Coetzer says.
