Coosa graphite project moves into the FAST-41 lane

Critical minerals company Westwater Resources on Tuesday announced that its Coosa graphite deposit had been designated a “covered project” under the US federal FAST-41 framework.

The designation places the project, located in Alabama, on the federal permitting dashboard, enabling a more coordinated, transparent and predictable approvals process, including a publicly available timetable for environmental review and permitting activities.

“This is an important step forward as we continue advancing Coosa,” CEO Frank Bakker said in a statement, adding that the company was progressing its strategy to establish a domestic graphite supply chain in the US.

Coosa forms part of Westwater’s vertically integrated mine-to-market strategy, which includes downstream processing at its Kellyton graphite plant.
