Boss grows uranium inventory at Honeymoon satellites

Australia-listed Boss Energy has hiked the mineral resource estimates (MREs) for its Gould’s Dam deposit and Jason’s deposit satellite projects, both located near the Honeymoon operation, in South Australia.

Gould’s Dam now hosts a total resource of 38.7-million tonnes grading 388 parts per million (ppm) uranium oxide (U3O8) for 33.1-million pounds of contained uranium, representing a 30% increase in contained metal compared with the previous 2016 estimate.

The updated resource comprises 7.5-million tonnes in the indicated category and 31.2-million tonnes in the inferred category. While contained uranium has increased by 8.1-million pounds, the average grade declined by 24%, reflecting the incorporation of additional drilling data and an improved geological understanding derived from the Honeymoon operation.

Jason’s deposit, located about 13 km from Honeymoon, now hosts 13.3-million tonnes at 410 ppm U3O8 for 12-million pounds of uranium. This marks a 9% increase in contained uranium from the 2017 estimate, with 41% classified as indicated and 59% as inferred.

Boss noted that mineralisation at both deposits remains open, providing scope for further resource growth. Additional drilling campaigns are planned for the second half of the 2026 calendar year.

The Gould’s Dam deposit, situated about 80 km from Honeymoon, is characterised by uranium mineralisation hosted in highly permeable unconsolidated sands within a palaeochannel system extending over 15 km. The geology is considered amenable to in-situ recovery (ISR) mining, with the company highlighting strong continuity of mineralisation.

Boss is also assessing whether the wide-spaced wellfield extraction approach being studied at Honeymoon could be applied to both satellite deposits. If successful, this could enable a significant portion of the resources to be converted into mineable inventory using a cost-efficient ISR method.

“Over the past six months, the company has initiated several strategic programmes aimed at unlocking shareholder value,” CEO Matthew Dusci said, noting that the updated MREs reflect both additional drilling and improved understanding of mineralisation controls.

He added that baseline environmental, groundwater and radiological studies, alongside preliminary technical work, were progressing in parallel to support permitting.

Boss is targeting the commencement of state and federal approvals processes in the second half of 2026, with the timeline from application to the granting of a mining lease expected to take between 18 and 24 months. This would be followed by a further six to 12 months for approval of the Programme for Environment Protection and Rehabilitation.

Dusci said early indications suggested both Gould’s Dam and Jason’s deposits could become material future uranium production sources, leveraging the existing infrastructure at Honeymoon.
