Utah-focused American Uranium has successfully completed a large-scale aquifer pumping test at its proposed Mine Unit 1 area at the Lo Herma uranium project, in Wyoming, which helps confirm the viability of in-situ recovery (ISR) on site.

The company is evaluating hydrogeological characteristics relevant to potential ISR development at Mine Unit 1, with results from the pumping test being independently evaluated by Petrotek Corporation.

Lo Herma has a mineral resource estimate of 9.9-million pounds of uranium oxide.

The final results from the aquifer pumping test will inform wellfield design parameters for a targeted scoping study in the fourth quarter, and help define the next stages of hydrogeological work required for aquifer permitting.

ISR typically lowers production costs, is more efficient and eliminates the heavy environmental damage caused by traditional openpit or underground mining. It comprises a network of underground wells.

ISR currently accounts for about 60% of uranium production globally.
