AI is becoming increasingly important in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions, particularly for improving energy efficiency, operational management and predictive maintenance, says electronics company Samsung.

The company reports that its HVAC portfolio incorporates AI, energy-efficiency technologies and building management systems intended for residential and commercial applications.

Samsung says systems such as its DVM S2, VRF and EHS TDM Plus ranges are designed to improve comfort in commercial spaces while supporting sustainability and operational performance.

As part of this approach, Samsung’s Smart Air Conditioning (SAC) and HVAC systems integrate with its Building Internet of Things (b.IoT) platform to support energy management in commercial buildings.

“The AI-based b.IoT solution is intended to assist businesses in improving energy savings and operational efficiency through real-time system management and monitoring.”

Samsung adds that its HVAC offering is centred around five focus areas, namely advanced comfort technologies, b.IoT integration, air purification, sustainability and long-term operational support.

In terms of operational efficiency, the company says its SAC systems use inverter technology to support temperature control and reduce energy consumption in commercial facilities, including offices and larger buildings. The b.IoT platform also enables remote monitoring and control of HVAC systems through connected applications, while the AI-driven maintenance prediction tools help to reduce downtime and support system longevity.

Beyond operational management, Samsung notes that some air conditioning systems are equipped with Tri-Care filters or PM1.0 filtration systems designed to trap dust, allergens, bacteria and viruses.

The company adds that sustainability remains a key component of its HVAC strategy, which includes reducing its systems’ carbon footprints using energy-efficient technologies and refrigerants.

Samsung says that it aims to achieve net-zero direct and indirect carbon emissions across its operations by 2050 as part of its 2022 New Environmental Strategy.

In addition to its technology offering, the company’s installation and maintenance support services also form part of its HVAC solutions for commercial customers.
